Nissan Hints at a Next-Generation Maxima At the Detroit Auto Show

To celebrate its 80th anniversary, Nissan has embarked on a new design direction: one that embraces a forward-thinking, thoroughly modern approach, demonstrated by the V-Motion front, floating roof, and boomerang-shaped head and tail lights. The automaker's new Sports Sedan Concept, unveiled earlier last week at the Detroit Auto Show, embodied those cues to its fullest potential. The redesigned front proved to convey just the right amount of drama-alluding to the Sports Sedan Concept's power and performance-and the floating roof went pleasantly against the grain of a sedan's traditionally expected weight.

It is bigger than the current Maxima, so those who want it can look forward to throwing around a little more substance on the road. The engine will be a 3.5L V6, delivering over 300 horsepower. "Our new design direction mirrors the strength, power and capabilities of the engineering and innovation that serves as the foundation of every Nissan vehicle," announces Nissan's Vice President and Chief Creative Officer Shiro Nakamara. "Nissan is a brand for people seeking bold and passionate experiences, and who are willing to make choices outside of traditional boundaries. That's why Nissan is committed to breaking new ground in automotive design, as expressed in the stunning new Sport Sedan Concept." Combining both practicality and innovation in one user-friendly product experience? Sounds like a winner.
